As a rule, a variety of flowers and plants can be found in the room and on the windowsill of an amateur flower grower. Among them you can find decorative-flowering and decorative-deciduous plants .

As you might guess, ornamental flowering plants are distinguished by beautiful flowers, while some have leaves of little value, and some have very beautiful green foliage. Most ornamental flowering plants require very good lighting and love fresh air. There are flowering plants that are only decorative for a while (spring-summer), and in winter require a dormant period, usually in cool conditions. The most unpretentious are hibiscus, hoya, pelargonia, gloxinia, eschinanthus, amaryllis.

Ornamental-deciduous plants usually rarely bloom at home, do not bloom at all or bloom, with nondescript flowers. The leaves have a wide variety of colors and shapes. Plants are usually covered with leaves all year round, but there are also deciduous ones. Variegated forms are usually more photophilous than plants with pure green leaves. If you are looking for the most unpretentious plants, pay attention to ficuses of benjamin and elastic, philodendrons, ferns, aglaonems, crotons, caladiums.

Cacti and succulents with fleshy leaves should be included in a separate group. Virtually all cacti have no leaves, and most have spines. Among them there are spherical, cylindrical, large (prickly pears grow at home up to 1.5 m) and very babies. Many cacti bloom with very beautiful flowers. Among leaf succulents there are many plants that are not difficult to grow and worthy of attention: havortia, gastenia, stapelia, sediments, flowering adeniums, spreading agaves. But many cacti and succulents need very good lighting.
After you have decided what your plant should look like, see what conditions it needs. First of all, decide on the possible temperature in the room, and with the lighting. Below is a table with the temperature range. But these are not temperatures for constant room content, but temperatures that may be in the natural habitats of some plants, i.e. permissible temperatures. Under such conditions, plants can stay during the dormant period with a reduction or complete cessation of irrigation, for several days or weeks. Moreover, most plants do not need such wintering at all, but are able to tolerate it. These readings can come in handy if flowers are on the balcony to navigate when they can be brought indoors.
But still, there are plants that need a cold period of rest, otherwise they may not bloom, because in the cool they have flower buds, or to get sick, drop leaves if they are not light enough in winter. But there are few such plants, these are indoor acacia, cypress, pomegranate, myrtle, oleander, jasmine, clivia, calceolaria, hyacinth, Japanese fatsia, Canary date, cicas, etc.
Grouping plants by temperature
Most plants are photophilous, and they need a lot of light for good growth and bud formation!
