Despite the manufacturers' claim that cypermethrin does not cause resistance, there are factors that weaken its effect. Pyrethroids (including cypermethrin), when ingested by insects, are exposed to oxidative enzymes and enzymes that hydrolyze ester groups (esterases). Apparently it is this property, as well as poor wettability of leaves, that explains the incomplete destruction of pests.
