Lighting: Bright diffused light, protection from direct sunlight, tolerates light partial shade, requires good lighting in winter.

Watering: In spring and summer, aukube needs abundant watering, moderate and careful in winter.

Fertilizer: Between May and August, aucubus is fed weekly with complex fertilizer for deciduous plants. In autumn and winter they do not feed.

Air humidity: Frequent spraying - aucuba loves moist air, aucuba especially needs spraying if kept in winter in a room with central heating.

Transplant: Annually in the spring. The soil is 2 part light turf, 1 part leafy land, 1 part peat, and 1 part sand.

Breeding: Aukubu is propagated by cuttings in late summer.

Growing problems

The tips of the leaves are brown, dry and brittle - with insufficient watering in summer.

The leaves fall off - the air is too dry and the temperature is high in winter.

Brown spots on the leaves, leaves wrinkle - from exposure to direct sunlight.

Pests of Aukuba

A spider mite appears when the air is too dry - a spider web appears on the stems in the internodes, the leaves become lethargic and fall off.
Control measures. Wipe the plant with a soap sponge and wash under a warm shower. Regularly sprayed. With a very strong lesion, the aucuba can be sprayed with 0.15% actellic solution (1-2 ml per liter of water).

Trips - high temperature and low humidity contribute to the appearance.
On the underside of the leaf, thrips lay numerous colonies, and light dots appear on the upper side of the leaf. As a result, the upper side of the leaf becomes grayish brown with a silvery sheen.
Control measures. The plant should be sprayed, if necessary, repeatedly with insecticides (phytoverm, decis, actellic, inta-vir).
